On April 25, Aperio presented at the UJA -
Federation of New York City's Power Your Mission: Conference on Social Enterprise.
The purpose of the conference was to brings together experts representing
the private, nonprofit, academic and public sectors to discuss the “how, what,
and why” of social enterprise, and how it might work for participating
agencies. Alex Snelgrove and John Baker facilitated a session called "Strategies
for Starting a Social Enterprise" and spoke to an Affinity Group Meeting
for Human Service Agencies.
Alex Snelgrove conducted a workshop for the Sustainability Network, a group of environmental NGOs, on social enterprise. The title of the workshop was "Social Enterprise: Is it for You?." The powerpoint slides from the workshop can be found on the Sustainability Network website.
Aperio presented at the Canadian Society of Association Executive (CSAE) Third Annual Winter Summit in February. Entitled "Rethinking Non-Dues Revenue," the workshop was an opportunity for participants to think about how they develop new products and services.
John Pepin presented at the Ontario Trillium Foundation in partnership with ClearlySo Canada. The four interactive master classes were designed to help non-profit organizations prepare for their long term financial sustainability. Topics covered included: readying organizations for inward investment and funding. The classes also covered the different approaches to fundraising from corporate, to major donor and trust fundraising.

Aperio presented at Global Entrepreneurship Week - Jersey City, which was locally spearheaded by Rising Tide Capital of Jersey City, NJ.
Aperio's workshop, "Social Entrepreneurship: A practical guide to managing in tough times", was held Monday, November 15, 2010 from 3:00pm to 4:30pm at WomenRising, Inc.
The workshop was led by Chad Martin, Consultant at Aperio, and was geared toward social sector organizations looking for practical advice and information during trying financial times, particularly those facing the following issues:
- diminishing capacity and competing operational funds
- need to cut costs without cutting services
- looking for other sources of revenue
